"I want that".... We repin it and talk about it, but never do it... or PIN anything of our own. They say for every 10 things you RE-PIN you should pin something of your own. I purchased <br />
2 1x3x6 #2 Top Choice Wood for 2.03 each=4.06<br />
2 1/4 x 3 3/4 Eye Screws at .43 each=.86<br />
4 1 1/4 white safety clip screws at .88 each=3.52<br />
2 7/8x48" dowel rods at 2.68 each=5.36<br />
1 length of Chain#3x15' for 6.48 (this is .43 a foot) I could have purchased it by the foot for .49 cents, but I wanted the extra in case our ceilings were different heights as we move around or maybe use it to hang potted plants or kids stuff outside!<br />
I had at home <br />
7x 1 1/2 black cabinet screws<br />
Cordless Drill<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Next you lay both pieces down. Outsides out. Again a smart and patient person would have marked inside and outside top and bottom so they don't get them confused.... this could cause problems later. However I escaped the problem part, this time. Using your 7/8" sink bit, or what ever size that will snuggle fit your dowel rod, mark a line on the bit for how deep you want to go. This will keep all your holes the same depth and none off the bars will be too long or short later. Drill the outside. This will get rid of the "marking" dot you made and the "jagged" wood from where you came out the back side with the drill bit. Should leave the piece rather smooth. Do all the holes on both pieces. </td></tr>

He may not appreciate it now, but when he looks back, I hope he will draw up some of these memories. Plus he helped me make the cakes!!<br />

First I scrambled for an invite for a couple friends. <br />

(downloaded from the brain of Heather....watch out!) He is all about the Dark Side. So we found this great Darth Vader candle holder and I wanted to try and make it looks like he was on the platform fighting Luke! After I finished Scott told me that the glow from that area was RED, so you will need to use your imagination! <br />

I see that my last update was August 27th. Over 3 months of going 90 to nothin.!! So glad that things are slowing down some. <br />
<br />
Currently I am working on some swags, AF ornaments and memorabilia and thought I would share! <br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9a1lsUZB3JGRM1gpdiyiGP9V6ZTrbtpFXV0AQFn8CNMjaLcWQlCdDRBb9hIV4L5bmxxBwietb1hU_jUUi-ZkWo3SvmZP09cnNJj_z-z9atQjM_QfjDRUWoMSzESDPu7PRfnuLboPxEGuH/s1600/IMG_3772.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9a1lsUZB3JGRM1gpdiyiGP9V6ZTrbtpFXV0AQFn8CNMjaLcWQlCdDRBb9hIV4L5bmxxBwietb1hU_jUUi-ZkWo3SvmZP09cnNJj_z-z9atQjM_QfjDRUWoMSzESDPu7PRfnuLboPxEGuH/s320/IMG_3772.JPG" width="213" /></a><br />

<br />
I decided to try my hand at the Cookie Sheet Magnet board<br />
On this one. I used travel paper and bright colors. <br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqysVvAsPC24mVM0vNYOHTp6Bm08GxLlIIN0uG_B-nHagbokHH42TXSbdVZppRD3nu0Fv-J__YAUhlhuNalSl5becfr6VcgyoIDfyX_jgYJlw8_g3YXKbPupKsJ7I5yeIDZKTM4D0FeAIW/s1600/IMG_3771.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="140" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqysVvAsPC24mVM0vNYOHTp6Bm08GxLlIIN0uG_B-nHagbokHH42TXSbdVZppRD3nu0Fv-J__YAUhlhuNalSl5becfr6VcgyoIDfyX_jgYJlw8_g3YXKbPupKsJ7I5yeIDZKTM4D0FeAIW/s200/IMG_3771.JPG" width="200" /></a><br />
The Magnets are the Days of the week and I used jumbo stones<br />
that I got from Michaels with a 3/4"magnet on back. <br />
<br />
Aleens tack glue on the magnet and clear glue on stone..<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Our McConnells Officers Spouses Club is doing a fundraiser and we wanted ornaments that were specific to our base! Here is the final product. <br />

This one has the front of the McConnell Coin. Because it already said Kansas, I decided to add Team McConnell. Wichita and a stamp that says Inspired by life is on the back... I thought "how fitting... this is inspired by life!" The one to the right is my favorite and is the back of the coin. I added the AF colors with ribbon and the sunflower for Kansas! <br />
<br />

However this one is my favorite!! I like the simplicity in it. The AF Wings and 2011 is done with Shrinky Dinks.... Yes, my friends from the 80's they still make them and they are super versatile.... For instance... to your right are Air plane (or for the sake of McConnell KC 135's) blue and silver beads for AF and made from Shrinky Dinks... Love it. <br />
<br />

It can be year round!! The back is also stamped and it says Wichita KS. I customize with their group or squadron, the year, a special something to remember their time here!! (even thought there is plenty... like 27 degrees in Dec... yuck! just glad we got through late tornado season!) <br />
<br />
My last little project is with the magnets and marbles!!! <br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq7THInS4B4pH7526CT_Y635MTFvZZEeo7MPf4Z2qjdEJONjMk7MYVcJs9e7K_fOOPxP8K0YmfIoRV_YDalOdSMgt5pH2L80hsKu1CRU9bj4jXzxp074O5ve_5y7d1tlAexRB3nGYO4BBi/s1600/Air+Force+Magnets.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="207" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq7THInS4B4pH7526CT_Y635MTFvZZEeo7MPf4Z2qjdEJONjMk7MYVcJs9e7K_fOOPxP8K0YmfIoRV_YDalOdSMgt5pH2L80hsKu1CRU9bj4jXzxp074O5ve_5y7d1tlAexRB3nGYO4BBi/s320/Air+Force+Magnets.JPG" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
These are 1/2" magnets with the standard "non luster" clear glass marbles. I used the EK Success border punch to punch the pictures that fit on the 1/2" magnet... (make sure to get the heavier magnet to support the weight of the marble) and again to make the card to hold them. I used clear duct tape on the back to keep them in place... I love this project. <br />
<br />

I just used my Modge Podge to put a coat on this. I took my 3/4" single punch to make the card and Creative memories corner rounder to make it smooth. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Well that is all I have for now!!! See that is just one of the things that has kept me away from my blog!! <br />
<br />
If I get time I will do more Show and Tell tomorrow!<br />
<br />
Until then... safe days, sleepy nights... sweet dreams. <br />

He lost his first tooth! He was so brave when Paige Alise was getting her teeth pulled. He would shower her how easy it was to put the floss on this tooth!! <br />
So I noticed he had one that was super ready. I asked him if he wanted to do this, Sure!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSJFA8fstKconxH8f6R5MKCqftF3RA5HSxca_bK7PCrliKmPY6D7USl4pBzDKLiIJiW0fg6speKmcZL2YRTY7SkLmZ7XKINOViWik_twc_f2lLa_fhCeaaucMKrWZ-LW-S8-Ri8TXIn_3J/s1600/SAM_1831.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" qaa="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSJFA8fstKconxH8f6R5MKCqftF3RA5HSxca_bK7PCrliKmPY6D7USl4pBzDKLiIJiW0fg6speKmcZL2YRTY7SkLmZ7XKINOViWik_twc_f2lLa_fhCeaaucMKrWZ-LW-S8-Ri8TXIn_3J/s320/SAM_1831.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So we put on the floss!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I knew a couple of brothers... from back in the "hood". As I was living my dream of teaching and buying my first home and being the director of the camp that I grew up at, they were starting to realize their dream. Those bright lights of Nashville started to get brighter and brighter, and as I heard them pickin their guitars, I knew that I was in the presence of something. So their dad, who was with his brothers back in the day pickin at their guitars, and made a little name for themselves made some calls... Then one night in early 2001 they took the stage at the Oklahoma Opry. It was very clear to anyone with ears... Oklahoma was not where they needed to be. And to me, that this time was coming to an end. God was going to open the next chapter in my life, so this one had to close. <br />
<br />
Here we are 10 years later, I am no longer in OKLAHOMA... where I never thought I would leave. And neither are they. They left in August of 2001 and started their journey. I met my husband in 2002 and started my family and gave up my career in 2010 to allow him to pursue his in the US Air Force. And who shall come through the town of Wichita Kansas... The Dirt Drifters.... Yes, they made it. It isn't just the brothers though. About 4 or more years ago they met up with a very eclectic group of men and a special sound was born. Deeper than Red Dirt Country... something all it's own. And they are are on the radio with the single Something Better. There is a video out as well. In a world were money and sparkle are what catch peoples eyes, these guys are doing it with talent, passion and being real. I hope anyone reading this blog goes to <a href="http://www.thedirtdrifters.com/">The Dirt Drifters</a> and checks them out for yourself.... Then on to Itunes to download their latest album <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/this-is-my-blood/id448044399">This Is My Blood</a> with 10 original songs including their single <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/something-better-single/id397553775">Something Better</a> and a guest appearance in I'll Shut Up Now with Willie Nelson. <br />
<br />
I hope you enjoy them as much as I do and let keep getting the word out about them!! Look for them to come to a city near you and GO!!!Heather Blairhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13857241626769645692noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1758057454011967304.post-9978161638011295762011-08-17T09:51:00.000-05:002011-08-17T09:51:20.103-05:001st Day Hooray!!!The days have been ticking away and so have my nerves!! Let me just say as a early retired teacher, EX camp counselor & director as well as a kid at heart! <br />
I vote YES for year round school! I feel that 10 weeks is just too long for kids to be out! <br />
<ul><li>As a teacher, truly is it about the retention level. If we give more smaller breaks and keep them in the routine I feel they will go farther each year instead of playing catch up at the beginning. </li>
<li style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">As a camp person, I know that schools rotate when they would be out and camps could work with those schedules as well as incorporate field trips and other experiences! </li>
<li style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">And as a kid at heart, well I saw how much my kids missed being around other kids, and I enjoyed getting to be a kid and not the "mean mom" saying NO, STOP THAT, QUIT KISSING YOUR BROTHER, all day long!!</li>
</ul><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">That being said we started our 1st day of school TODAY!! Listen to that....... </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">SILENCE and the tapping of a key board as I get things done I have been putting off or too frustrated to do!!</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Also the kids were so excited to get to school, they ran off before I could get them both in a picture. This was happening... So at around 9:15, I held the freakishly strong little thing (barely) and he got a hold of the floss and then said to me.... "Now what do I do? Okay, I can't do this you have too" and let go... REALLY!!!! Dude we are on tooth #9 here, you can do ONE of them!! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We switched places, I calmed her down again and then I just PULLED the floss like it was a snake and I needed it as far away from me as possible.... The funniest thing happened!!! The tooth shot up into the air, bounced off the ceiling and fell on the floor behind me.... Ahhhh shoot, I hope I didn't loose the tooth!!! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Finally, after over 3 hours....that wonderful "S" gap! She is excited about her 1st day of thchool and 3rd grade. She can't wait to say our neighbors name thara! and the best part!!!!<br />

This was a fun project. We got the 7" hanger for the doll clothes at <a href="http://www.dorisdollboutique.com/servlet/StoreFront">Dori's Doll Boutique</a> under accessories. I actually got them from eBay, but the price was the same and they came quickly. Now that I have found her site, I am sure we will do more business with her... They do have Bitty Twins... <br />
<br />
Now that it is all done, I am ready for a break... Well at least a day's peace right!<br />

<br />
Okay, for all of those that have kids in the loose tooth age, or remember the days, this post is for you!<br />
Paige Alise has lost 6 teeth to date. The first one she was in 1st grade and it took me 45 minutes of tears to get her to let me put on and touch the dental floss on her tooth, when I finally did, it FELL out. She was like "that didn't hurt at all"... so we talked about how silly she was being, but fear is understandable when it is the unknown.. That next day she was with Nana and was biting on a blanket while walking, stepped on it and it pulled the next bottom tooth that did not have it's friend to give it support... So that night after another 45 minutes we got out the other tooth, that had started to turn black/gray. So now I am thinking she has to see this is NO BIG DEAL... right.. If you have met Paige Alise you know that is not the way things roll. So the next tooth (bottom right next to center) followed about the same path but this time Daddy was there to experience it. We were at Nana's and she insisted on eating corn to loosen it up. Didn't work, so I got the floss on, but she freaked out again.. Daddy tried to comfort her, but she wanted to be on Nana's lap and me to touch the floss... right out AFTER 45 minutes and tears... Now for the 4th tooth. We were living in Kansas as the Apartment, it was the 1st part of November and they had the 2nd graders at her school in swim lessons for 2 weeks the second half of the day. I knew her tooth was ready, but I was not ready for the 45 minute battle, so I thought it can wait a little while longer... On her 3rd day of swim lessons, the pressure for the water as she swam forward, knocked the tooth back in her mouth though it was still connected. She freaked out... when home...45 minutes later she finally let me pull the floss. This one came out and she didn't even know it. Anyone seeing a theme here... 45 minutes... I think I've got this... right... NO<br />
The next two teeth are her 1st set of bottom molars.. They have had an infection for months and we cannot get it taken care of. On Jan 20th we had a consultation with a Ped dentist because her reg dentist felt that it would be too difficult to extract the teeth, they may crack or break and he was not prepared for the little roots. We thought it was just a consultation. NOPE, within 10 minutes she had the gas on her nose, a shot to numb and NONE of us noticed that he had pulled both of her bottom molars... NOT even her! They fit her with spacer, because they don't expect those teeth to come in for another2-3 years. So now ALL 4 of her Top Teeth are Loose... The base dentist told her to push on them for 10 minutes from the front, 10 mins from the back then turn them like a light bulb for 10 mins. They should be out in a month... That was last week. This Wed I got back from a meeting and I learned from my neighbor that Paige Alise had dropped her IPod on her face and her tooth had bleed A LOT! I looked at it and you could see when she pushed back her top left tooth that the root was gone and their was an empty spot... The time is now, we are pulling the tooth.<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I told her I would put on the floss but because it was the top teeth I need gravity to work with me. It took about 15 minutes or more to get her to lay down in my lap for the floss. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkBCnS5gA_z9u_LddmyHrzCuuLwBBEF0gXyEabwH4xH9YcVhxWFkNVj3vIUtEF4zP0dp0pQuIzmDjPzes0Hgneupu6l_CgZsVPZEpSKKhyphenhyphenZRfsymz-QDLmRChRgqJ7blsmZOd2M9OlFKVH/s1600/SAM_1514.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkBCnS5gA_z9u_LddmyHrzCuuLwBBEF0gXyEabwH4xH9YcVhxWFkNVj3vIUtEF4zP0dp0pQuIzmDjPzes0Hgneupu6l_CgZsVPZEpSKKhyphenhyphenZRfsymz-QDLmRChRgqJ7blsmZOd2M9OlFKVH/s320/SAM_1514.JPG" t$="true" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">As you can see from her forehead, she was not happy about this... SCARED OUT OF HER MIND is more like it. So I told her that she could do it. She needed to tighten the floss around her tooth and keep pushing up until it was over the top and in the "empty" space... So off to the bathroom she went. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

By the way about an hours has passed by this time. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So Sara and Brax head up stairs to play and the floss falls off, but I am in this to the end... I can't believe my 45 mins has passed... but there has been a lot of tears and "I'm not ready, it's not ready" statements... </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">She wants to know what they are doing up stairs and I told her we would go check if she let me put the floss back on, then we would work at her speed... </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmAEVqtGmSnGOSJf_FB2eHtFuD46kIlwxuu4bBlrqmSCiH-LtEsWIesS_zWy2f6hma9PZViDEOgLQeLFSvhfDbwttXoCZGG3aeLTL9_ifg28DfnmuaJ-_SAinHOz4J5tjPHWseW38NTOQ2/s1600/SAM_1530.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmAEVqtGmSnGOSJf_FB2eHtFuD46kIlwxuu4bBlrqmSCiH-LtEsWIesS_zWy2f6hma9PZViDEOgLQeLFSvhfDbwttXoCZGG3aeLTL9_ifg28DfnmuaJ-_SAinHOz4J5tjPHWseW38NTOQ2/s320/SAM_1530.JPG" t$="true" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">so the floss is on, we are upstairs watching Brother and Sara play and she is as far away from ME as possible. I tried I will buy you a <a href="http://www.lalaloopsy.com/?section=meet">La La Loopsy</a> doll. (because she wanted the boy one to give to brother so they could play together and he would stop taking hers) or we will stay up all night to finish your doll closet, or where do you want to go to eat, then down to a milk shake from QT.. (we are over 2 hours now)... Then the long annoying stair down and a irritating tapping that was driving her crazy. Then I said, "Hey Granma told me a secret today and if you let me touch and hold the floss, I will tell you the secret" I knew she would freak out and pull away, so that was my goal... If I could just get her to trust me enough to touch the floss we would have this thing DONE. And she wanted to know that secret. So I slowly got a hold and tightened... She freaked out, jumped back and the tooth fell on my feet. "She said, that hurt a little" but then it started bleeding and that was totally cool....</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

After spending the morning helping Scott at his office file and do detail work, and going by the grocery store for dinner, I got the basics of the closet done. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">I switched my original method of putting the paper on in the first place. I used Spray adhesive to speed up the process. I feel like my kitchen & myself are coated in it. But it was much smoother and definitely quicker, didn't make the paper wrinkle as much. Still pieced the Blue together to give it texture, but did the printed paper flat because of the VERY BUSY PRINT! thank you Paige Alise for you 1970's taste. </div></blockquote><blockquote><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>As you know I posted a few pictures last week of a dresser that has been converted into a Doll Closet and now Paige Alise and I are going to take on this project. We spent all of last Saturday driving all over Wichita trying to find a good used furniture/thrift store to get a cheap beat up dresser, you know the kind you would have better luck finding by a dumpster, only to go to our base thrift store on Friday to discount this month's expiring items to find, that my neighbor down the street that moved out on Wed, took exactly what we needed to the our thrift store to consign for $10.00. BEAUTIFUL price. Their was some water damage, drawer bottoms had been replaced with wood, but still rolled in and out great, top warped... See!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifg5CwF2jEIFvQ4JwqHRtjpBP_7RYcYWy1hkBrgF0PGzOYbvmmzdeumfN_7qzn4wqXE8B3ZiHsVRBqZCHGUv-UvKI1WW70r55JvcAOU1jnBDBYjEXzEnYAdSZE1Tz7FXuK2ICYycyUpfzI/s1600/SAM_1485.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifg5CwF2jEIFvQ4JwqHRtjpBP_7RYcYWy1hkBrgF0PGzOYbvmmzdeumfN_7qzn4wqXE8B3ZiHsVRBqZCHGUv-UvKI1WW70r55JvcAOU1jnBDBYjEXzEnYAdSZE1Tz7FXuK2ICYycyUpfzI/s320/SAM_1485.JPG" t$="true" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And here is why we are doing it!! Kit; An American Girl and her friends Mia and Molly as well as baby Lucy and her new Bitty Baby Alise. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8P7IJ7iFAeKxySaLXhcd_KZbbk5zlB3S4loHi-MZGFzMbo2Jvuuzj9Rap0We7UGuXE4lO595vG18OKvbs55OupUFYvW9RLNXUoyC92PjXn2LXQO3MQt0mwb-BC0rE-qPXXQ96cx59-7Wn/s1600/SAM_1486.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8P7IJ7iFAeKxySaLXhcd_KZbbk5zlB3S4loHi-MZGFzMbo2Jvuuzj9Rap0We7UGuXE4lO595vG18OKvbs55OupUFYvW9RLNXUoyC92PjXn2LXQO3MQt0mwb-BC0rE-qPXXQ96cx59-7Wn/s320/SAM_1486.JPG" t$="true" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Then I took out the drawers, measured how far her longest dress would be and decided the bottom drawer needed to be cut in half. No problem we have an AMAZING wood shop on base and Scott and I can do that together... We did Sat AM, working together is always fun. Anyway, Paige Alise and I went to Tuesday Morning to find scrapbook paper in bulk so we could Decoupage her dresser, but instead she found the loudest, make me think of the 1970's with a 2011 flair wrapping paper to go on the outside and a complementary color to go inside. WAY cheaper! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj6frd3PuUOb3rwiZC5Zhe-hIbHYSkzmvEidfoxeFYelBNpm0zKlW1ypQ2bRpklTr7Dzpy8l9TIYAagX75cWqVEMxrILlOMkre-tIWrsShP0dBhPuxyzv96TNaYHK5FOhxOihgEDMs7LGa/s1600/SAM_1487.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj6frd3PuUOb3rwiZC5Zhe-hIbHYSkzmvEidfoxeFYelBNpm0zKlW1ypQ2bRpklTr7Dzpy8l9TIYAagX75cWqVEMxrILlOMkre-tIWrsShP0dBhPuxyzv96TNaYHK5FOhxOihgEDMs7LGa/s320/SAM_1487.JPG" t$="true" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So far, I have rebuilt the drawer, covered it with the patterned paper, covered the bottom part that is shaped (not super easy, but treated it like I was sewing and did notched and clipping) and made a shelf for the bottom so the drawer would be separate. Here is our progress as of tonight, we ran out of Decoupage. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6FSvzh1Fhqav9ZbJFynIJy9nupGdcCPi-9tcuDTM65XNGgW9rUhy889Il6-f9uuhaXyUJPHArki1_P3iPcafdgt6EWlYWUbLqFLCIjYXABiq0N1zTKY34mMa_r_oWMRsVHT77hSqQ6NA1/s1600/SAM_1493.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6FSvzh1Fhqav9ZbJFynIJy9nupGdcCPi-9tcuDTM65XNGgW9rUhy889Il6-f9uuhaXyUJPHArki1_P3iPcafdgt6EWlYWUbLqFLCIjYXABiq0N1zTKY34mMa_r_oWMRsVHT77hSqQ6NA1/s320/SAM_1493.JPG" t$="true" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Paige tore up the complementary paper into smaller pieces. I thought that would be an easier way for a 1st time decoupager to learn. With some assistance, she completed this whole blue side. (I just made sure edges overlapped and lines were straight)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZQxQwWJvc757EfWQe0r1wvGEdJcbkYh0BTM39M6dAw3KlwwmkCzMCkjHdLBytb7GgJegNri3blq3MUy5Uz-tYgX7ysafVrQ4iaKGy6BogP7H9zFvWBUgJfLcWn7vPR1zm49VAn7FPb3bG/s1600/SAM_1494.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZQxQwWJvc757EfWQe0r1wvGEdJcbkYh0BTM39M6dAw3KlwwmkCzMCkjHdLBytb7GgJegNri3blq3MUy5Uz-tYgX7ysafVrQ4iaKGy6BogP7H9zFvWBUgJfLcWn7vPR1zm49VAn7FPb3bG/s320/SAM_1494.JPG" t$="true" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div>She also reminded me she had a neat big pull handle that had the letter "P" on it and wanted to use that on the drawer where there already whole for the decorative piece we are NOT putting back on...<br />

Tomorrow, we will go to Daddy's work so I can do more exciting organizing and filing and then out to Michaels with my 40% off coupon to get more Decoupage. Hopefully we can get it completed tomorrow and moved up to her room. She got the 7 1/2" doll hangers today in the mail and is just dying to get her clothes hung up. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I can't wait for it to be finished. For some of you the paper choice might be a bit busy! But she just loved it. She loves COLOR and I love watching her plan. So this is a fun project... Updates to come......</div>Heather Blairhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13857241626769645692noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1758057454011967304.post-33457922694374282532011-07-28T11:45:00.000-05:002011-07-28T11:45:40.490-05:00Everyone wants a LEGO room!!!So, how do you keep all those pieces from being vaccummed up, stepped on, lost or used as a device to send an OCD mom to the brink of craziness??? By beating you kids into submission..... NAAA, that just plain crazy(ier) than I am!! By seperating them from all other toys, into a closet that the door can be shut on linoleum so they can move them around easily and top it off with color coded organization... that's how.. So that is what I did. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8XcdkZNPZZi79C1WLzzJJ_eUbeNEppOCuaQK2LUmdHVF4a_wJP6i6faQOBkJXjZ3wDlDIqe2ipqYyc2d7vQy5OqbNHzANek2XjziojrP5_S3LIgguYoADTPORwpOGQzBQcPgdpO0eZi8x/s1600/SAM_1290.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8XcdkZNPZZi79C1WLzzJJ_eUbeNEppOCuaQK2LUmdHVF4a_wJP6i6faQOBkJXjZ3wDlDIqe2ipqYyc2d7vQy5OqbNHzANek2XjziojrP5_S3LIgguYoADTPORwpOGQzBQcPgdpO0eZi8x/s320/SAM_1290.JPG" t$="true" width="320" /></a></div>Braxton and I sat down one day and broke all his LEGO's down into Categories by colors. He helped, so He knew what went where. We wrote the size (small or large) and the color in the color that was suppose to go in there. He knows how to spell his colors, but this is a way to trigger his eyes!! I used Clear Duct tape to put it on the drawer front. In some there are more than one color and there is even one that is just for tiny peices of all colors. There is even a drawer for the books that tell them how to put stuff together! <br />
<br />
Now you ask, do they use the room!!!! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj88KAq3hlwf7j4Oagm4_EjdG4N2czEEFHi9ib4KTsf26pXsRcvdXzWUjF2woQDYpl0wnS4aM0uknjbKY4NTsyNHteQStBbA0AYJ4N9McYqO52XTIFVkmOQ34E_QzR6jdyjsGjbu2Cf4mKz/s1600/SAM_1292.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj88KAq3hlwf7j4Oagm4_EjdG4N2czEEFHi9ib4KTsf26pXsRcvdXzWUjF2woQDYpl0wnS4aM0uknjbKY4NTsyNHteQStBbA0AYJ4N9McYqO52XTIFVkmOQ34E_QzR6jdyjsGjbu2Cf4mKz/s320/SAM_1292.JPG" t$="true" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div> YES THEY DO!! But do they put things back where they go...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsGj3QezXk_wzZplnZn6WAuzO5xcV9_GCJW84z6KDpFhLi5uKRDJtJwLXHC7nZ_d1zH_sYdyAFHpP5qjD-Z-NtbRltxqbwlK3-oTojr_kJ9X1xWi2IaNr9AdbPjlWAYgop5N8MI5iPTSZ2/s1600/SAM_1457.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsGj3QezXk_wzZplnZn6WAuzO5xcV9_GCJW84z6KDpFhLi5uKRDJtJwLXHC7nZ_d1zH_sYdyAFHpP5qjD-Z-NtbRltxqbwlK3-oTojr_kJ9X1xWi2IaNr9AdbPjlWAYgop5N8MI5iPTSZ2/s320/SAM_1457.JPG" t$="true" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> Here they are doing that... It turned into playing, but then that means HOURS of quiet time for mom... So often you will hear me say. "Is the LEGO room clean? Do not come downstairs until that room is CLEANED the RIGHT WAY" and away they go to play, together!! I love LEGO's and I embrace being CRAZYish!!</div><br />
<div align="center"></div>Heather Blairhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13857241626769645692noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1758057454011967304.post-77128305978610994022011-07-27T15:38:00.001-05:002011-07-31T22:12:29.250-05:00I am a real woman!You know how you see TV shows about being a mom, and everything else that is expected of you. It isn't as bad today as it was in years past, because I think REAL women/mom's got tired of a life style that truly cannot be achieved. <br />
<br />
Let me tell you a little about myself...<br />
1. I yell at my kids! In discipline but also in LOVE. <br />
2. I tell my kids I love them at LEAST 20 times a day, because I can and because I want it to stick. <br />
3. I don't tell them they are perfect, or that I am perfect... we both have a long way to go. <br />
4. I don't wear pearls, heals or an apron. <br />
5. I can't resolve all of life's issues in 30 mins. to an hour! (I don't even try)<br />
6. I too have a life of my own, it does not revolve around my children... it includes them.<br />
7. I expect as my kids age for them to start taking more responsibilities around the house... I AM NOT A MAID, nor do I want to be treated as one... You live here, you contribute to the home... husband included. <br />
8. I am not afraid if someone thinks I am a bad parent. My job is to bring up two well round, well adjusted kids that can take care of themselves... not write a book or make a name for myself. I only care what the end result will be on what Paige Alise and Braxton think of me and I see that reflected in them everyday. <br />
9. I am not the perfect wife, but I am in it for the long haul. So I expect good and bad days, but I tell him everyday too, that I love him... because he deserves to know.<br />
10. I fart, so deal with it... We all let air blow! YOU TOO!!<br />
<br />
So thanks for letting me rant... I could go on for hours, but I have two little slaves that are finally picking up the game I shouldn't have had to tell them to pick up, as well as make the bed I shouldn't have had to tell them to make. Don't forget the bathroom I shouldn't have had to tell her to clean and the trash I shouldn't have had to tell him to gather up... For now the house is quiet.... And it will stay that way, because the Electronics have been sacrificed today with all our "shouldn't have had too's" and Momma, can enjoy herself... <br />
Now to the kitchen, that I don't have to be told to clean.... to clean!!<br />
<br />
Enjoy your Wednesday.Heather Blairhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13857241626769645692noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1758057454011967304.post-60524988010176133352011-07-25T17:40:00.000-05:002011-07-25T17:40:44.973-05:00What a sale!Okay, all of you that want to get those pictures off your computer, but don't want to break the bank, here is your chance to try it out!! Happy Scrapping.Heather Blairhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13857241626769645692noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1758057454011967304.post-55912107410689013242011-07-24T00:29:00.000-05:002011-07-24T00:29:55.523-05:00All Star Sports with Girl ScoutsWow what a night we had. 5 of the girls in our Brownies troop showed up this evening to hang out and have some fun at the All Star Park. We started at 7:00 hoping that the sun going down would lessen the 109 degrees that it read on our car thermostat. Fortunately after being there for 30 minutes it felt like a storm was coming up in the West. We got a cool breeze, but no rain, so the night went on. <br />
<br />
We started on the Tilt-a-Whirl... I loved that ride at a kid. Then I soon realized, I didn't love it so much as an adult. Wow, it really did spin around fast... I just closed my eyes. I will be fine. Praise the Lord it is over. Then we try another ride, I don't recall the name, but you sit back in a covered seat and it slowly goes around like a ferris wheel but a little different.... WHOA! More than a little different, that sucker picked up and was flying like a jet airplane put on a spin cycle. Let's just say after a couple minutes I just closed my eyes and swallowed hard knowing that if I threw up on Paige Alise's friends I would never hear the end of it. I swear we were up there spinning in circles for half an hour!! Okay, it might have been 7 minutes, but I will not make that mistake again. Let's leave the circles for the young kids!!<br />
<br />
Luckily after that we did bumper boats and go carts and the kids did the slide. They had a great time, got to know each other better and made lasting memories. <br />
<br />
We do have 4 Goupons to do it again, but we will try out the one on the West side of town. I hear they have more inside activities, like a rock climbing wall inside. I also wanted to play some miniature golf, but the course was crazy busy and Scott's foot was tender from wearing his "boot" so we called it a night, went by QT for a milk shake and water and came home. We watched How to Train Your Dragon (awesome movie if you ask me!!), Brax fell asleep and told me he needed someone to carry him to bed because his legs were cold and sleepy. Scott said he told him at the theme park he needed someone to carry him to the car because his legs were bored... What... So I took it one step at a time, carried him up 13 steps... all 48lbs and put him to bed. <br />
<br />
On that note, it is good night to all and I check my email, update my blog and get use to this new habit! Let's see what I do tomorrow that might interest you???<br />
HeatherHeather Blairhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13857241626769645692noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1758057454011967304.post-15956794695081102082011-07-23T17:03:00.003-05:002011-07-23T17:09:02.355-05:00Thrifting in KansasSo today Paige Alise and I were on a mission, with our driver Scott and his rusty/hungry side kick Braxton to find a cheap old piece of furniture we could RESTYLE into a American Girl Closet with shoe and accessory storage. The idea is there, the resources... well a little difficult to come across. So we googled Thrift Stores in Wichita, KS. Printed the list and took the day driving. NO LUCK! But we did find a few stores that were clean, well organized, and had some potential for a return visit, if they weren't so stinking far away from where we live! These are moments that I really miss knowing my city. On NW 17th and N Penn Ave. on the East side of the road is a pink run down scary looking building. From the window, you see furniture stacked to the very tall ceiling. And you wonder as you step out of your car if the trashy little junk stores to the right are going to rob your car while you are in shopping. DON'T WORRY! The people are wonderful and once you get over yourself for a quick moment you walk into a hidden gem of unwanted old school furniture!!! To some it is really junk. To those of use that can see life in what others have discarded it is heaven. I so wanted to stumble across BJ Furniture today... but no such luck. However I have not given up hope. And I truly look forward to sharing the experience with my lovely daughter. Here is an example of the project we are considering, but we would like it shorter.. We found it on <a href="http://obscurobjet.blogspot.com/">http://obscurobjet.blogspot.com/</a><br />
<br />
Here is a copy of what the Unwanted furniture looked like. <br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/21142904@N05/4866756836/" title="doll armoire - before by rhymeswithwhen, on Flickr"><img alt="doll armoire - before" height="500" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4081/4866756836_c1ba36b9a3.jpg" width="349" /></a><br />
<br />
Here is a copy of the front when it was finished.<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/21142904@N05/4866156117/" title="doll armoire by rhymeswithwhen, on Flickr"><img alt="doll armoire" height="500" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4139/4866156117_d582b0bcda.jpg" width="312" /></a><br />
<br />
And this is the concept from the inside. However I would use a dowel rod and hangers for the 18" American Girl and Our Generation Doll Clothes. <br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/21142904@N05/4866170815/" title="doll armoire by rhymeswithwhen, on Flickr"><img alt="doll armoire" height="500" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4121/4866170815_3e568dc470.jpg" width="375" /></a><br />
Paige really likes the idea of the cute curtains to push open. I won't put bowls in the bottom, but create a shoe storage. Also I thought it would be neat to put something metal along the sides so you could use magnetic hooks or clips to hang hats/purses/glasses. <br />
<br />
So tell me what you think, or is you are from the Wichita area, where is the best place to find a 30" tall used piece of furniture we can RECYCLE and keep it cheap. <br />
<br />

WOW, what would I have to offer.... Well Scrapbooking. I first spoke about the world of Digital Photography and how "I" get my pictures off the computer and into print. FAST, CHEAP & EASY with <a href="http://www.mypublisher.com/">http://www.mypublisher.com/</a>. Then I switched over to my passion! Traditional Scrapbooking. Check out the 8x8 page I did in a quick 20 minutes session! I also gave one kit away at each session. It was wonderful.
